About this event

Join STEM Ambassador Amy, from the Arc Group, for a live talk, describing how she started her career path in construction via an apprenticeship route!

9 years ago, Amy knew nothing about the construction industry and assumed workers were either builders or electricians. After leaving college and completing her A-Levels, Amy was set to head off to university to continue her studies, but family and financial situations halted her plans. Her dilemma was what to do next.

She will explain how she successfully completed an apprenticeship and gained valuable life skills. Currently, as a flourishing Social Value Manager, she manages the apprentices and work placements within her organisation, helping people start their career paths within the construction industry.

During the talk, you will learn about the varied career routes available within the construction industry, and learn about the qualities and benefits of being an apprentice whilst understanding the distinct levels of taking up the apprenticeship route to aid your future career.

This live talk, aimed at secondary students, will be informative and engaging. There will be time to ask questions afterwards.

This virtual secondary school assembly talk will take place using MS Teams Live. The platform has safeguarding built-in to make it a safe online environment, especially for young people, including no webcams or microphones and a live Q&A function which is fully moderated.
